The FMM team welcomes: Ms. Florence Iheme

The FMM team welcomes: Ms. Florence Iheme, the new ECOWAS Director for Humanitarian and Social Affairs and Mr. Albert Siaw-Boateng, the new ECOWAS Director for Free Movement and Tourism.
Ms. Florence Iheme joined the Department of Social Affairs and Gender, after a long and successful tenure within the ECOWAS Commission in different capacities. One of the director’s priorities is to ensure that appropriate protection measures are put in place in order to reduce the vulnerability of ECOWAS citizens. An important part of her work will be dedicated to the development of sustainable protection systems that have to prevent, suppress and punish human trafficking and related forms of exploitation. She will also ensure that a systems approach is applied in the implementation of effective Child Protection programming.
Mr. Albert Siaw-Boateng joined the Department for Trade, Custom and Free Movement & Tourism after successfully serving as ECOWAS’ Director for Human Resources.
For the upcoming year Mr. Siaw-Boateng will focus on three keys areas: ensure full application of free movement protocols (including the fight against cross border crimes and harassment at border posts), enhance cross border cooperation amongst member states and develop a regional tourism policy.

Ms. Iheme and Mr. Siaw-Boateng took over their responsibilities from respectively Mr. Daniel Eklu and Mr. N’Faly Sanoh. We would like to take this occasion to also thank the previous directors for their engagement and close collaboration with the FMM team and we wish them all the best for their new assignments! (EDB)
